Traps Drums--A 400 or E 400?

Is it better to get the Traps A400 kit and buy a drum brain to add or by the Traps E400 kit and use it with and without headphones? I have a regular drum kit but need to get a portable/compact kit as I am at University. I want a kit I am able to plug in and use headphones for but also play out loud. What would you recommend?

ANSWER

Hi, Sarah--

I would buy the E-450. This set is the new upgrade of the E-400 set. The sound module is much improved. You will need to buy an amplifier if you want to play it out loud--or if you are playing with a band, you can just go through the PA.

The A400 would require that you buy not only a sound module, but also triggers, which can run into quite a bit of extra expense. With the E-450, you get everything you need plus the triggers are "under skin", which is a lot more efficient that attaching external triggers.
