Rim Mount Drums From the 80's & 90's

What was the name of the drums that came out in the 80's & 90's that had specially made hoops/rims that were pretty innovative for the time. They allowed for more resonance by the way the mounted toms hung from their rims rather than through the body of the tom. I remember a really cool glossy purple set at Guitar Center in San Diego back then, but could never remember the name!!

ANSWER

Hi, Jay--

The RIMS system of mounting toms by the rim was developed by a drummer named Gary Gauger in 1980.
