Guitar Tab for "Love Me Like the World is Ending"

I have looked up on the internet a guitar tab for the song "Love Me Like the World Is Ending" by Ben Lee. The author says "capo on the fifth fret", but the notes are said to be played on the second and fourth fret. The author said something about tab relative to capo. I'm not sure what this means and if it has anything to do with my problem.

ANSWER

Hi, Ebony!

Yes, tabs can get pretty confusing, especially since most of them on the internet are written by non-professionals.

I looked up the particular tab that you mentioned and the statement "tab relative to capo" IS the key to your question.

If you place the capo on the 5th fret, then the capo becomes the "beginning" of your guitar. So when the tab indicates a note on the "2nd" fret, it is actually on the "7th" fret. A "4th" fret note would be on the "9th" fret. Just add "5" To the fret numbers throughout the tab.

Hope this clears up the confusion. If there is any other way I can help, let me know.

Good Luck with your playing!

Lynne
