Which hand should I watch when playing the guitar?

when playing guitar, is it better to watch the frets or watch the strings you strum?

ANSWER

It is best to look at the hand which is requiring the most attention at a certain time. For example, if you are fretting rapid notes, you might want to look at your fretting hand. If you are doing a complicated finger picking pattern, you may need to look at your strumming hand.

In many cases, it is best to look at NEITHER hand--as in when you are singing and playing.
