"The Time of My Life" is the first single released by David Cook--winner of the Seventh Season American Idol. The song was written by Regie Hamm and was released in 2008 as the winner in the 2008 American Idol Songwriter's Competition.

About The Drummer

Kyle Peek was born and grew up in Southern California. Although he was sponsored by Ludwig for part of the band's first tour, he now swears by Truth Custom Drums.

"The Time of My Life" is in 6/8 time with the drums coming in on the first Pre Chorus. In this Pre Chorus, Peek uses a 16th note groove on the Ride cymbal with bass drum accents on the 1st and 4th beats.

Then during the Chorus, he switches to a ore tradition 6/8 groove with the Snare Drum on the 4th beat.

The Bridge is an interesting beat with the Bass Drum on 16th notes after the 2nd and 5th beats.

Add some toms and some 32nd note Ride cymbal riffs in the Outro and you have a song that is actually quite simple to play but also very interesting. If you are a beginning to intermediate drummer, then this tab just might be exactly right for you.
