My Hi Hat Keeps Moving

How do i keep my hi-hat from walking away from me while playing? My kit is set up on a carpet and there is a spike on the foot pedal but it still moves.

Hi, Ed--

Here are a couple of ideas for you:

1. Get a different rug. Some drummers are using Yoga mats. There are special mats made specifically for drums.

2. Use "Kick Stops". They are relatively inexpensive and they bolt onto your drum rug and will keep the Hi Hat stand in place.
