Light and Heavy Ride Cymbals

What is the difference between light and heavy rides?

ANSWER

Lighter rides are typically quicker to respond but have less volume and sustain.

Heavier rides, on the other hand, require more time and effort to respond but are louder and sustain longer.

Your choice depends upon the kind of music, the size of the band and the venue. Many drummers use more than one weight.
