Drummers Survival kit--What is the Impact Pad For?

I just bought a Zildjian Drummers Survival Kit for $6.99. The kit contains 10 Cymbals Sleeves 2 HiHat Felts 6 Cymbal Felts 2 Clutch Felts 10 Tension Rod Washers 6 Snare Cords and 1 Leather Impact Pad. My question is, what is the impact pad used for.

ANSWER

The Impact Pad is basically a muffler for the Bass Drum. It should have adhesive backing so that you can apply it to the area where the beater(s) strikes the head.

The Impact Pad also serves to prolong the life of the Bass Drum Head.
