Drum Tuning--How Can I Tune My Toms for a Singing Tone?

I have a Gretsch Renown kit, how do i get more thump and less sing out of my toms?

ANSWER

Hi,libradrums58--

It might help to tune the bottom and top heads to the same pitch--this tuning usually gives a more singing tone.

You also might want to rethink your choice of heads. Please visit Tips for Tuning Drums for a detailed discussion of the different types of drum heads. Just scroll down to "Choice of Heads".
