Does a Hole in Bass Drum Affect Sound Quality?

I'm thinking of buying a used pearl drum kit for 600.00 it has all hardware and stands and better quality symbols. My only question is they cut out a circle on the bass drum, to put a mic in it. Would that reflect the quality of sound. thanks

ANSWER

The hold may affect the sound a bit, depending on how big and where it is. If you don't like the sound, just buy a new bass drum head. They are relatively inexpensive.
