Bass Lessons Online:
Tuning Your Bass

Bass Lessons Online

Looking for an easy way to tune your bass? Just click on the player that corresponds to the string you want to tune. Match the pitch of your string to the pitch, the go to the next string and repeat.

This method of guitar-tuning is easy once your ear adjusts to hearing the subtleties of pitch. It is worth your time to learn to use your ear rather than rely totally on digital machines.

Another Way To Tune

You may also match only the Low E or 4th string to the Low E and then use this method for the other 3 strings:

**Place your finger on the 5th fret of the Low E string and then match the 3rd string to the pitch of the 5th fret on the low E string.

**Place your finger on the 5th fret of the 3rd string and then match the 2nd string to the pitch of the 5th fret on the 3rd string.

**Place your finger on the 5th fret of the 2nd string and then match the 1st string to the pitch of the 5th fret on the 2nd string.

Remember that the ability to tune well is gradually acquired as your ear becomes better able to hear the pitches. You learn to tune by TUNING. Keep trying--it will be important in the long run!
