Rich sounding
by: Anonymous

I got mine from school when they wanted to throw it away. It's a really good guitar in my opinion; it's sounds really rich when played. Worth having even though it's cheap. :DD

Incredible Guitar
by: Philip

I have been playing for over 11 years and was fortunate enough to inherit my FG-400a from my grandfather before he passed.

This guitar has always played like a dream and ages extremely well. The tone continues to improve as the wood ages and it could easily pass for a multi-thousand dollar acoustic.

About 6 years ago, I had a Martin Thinline active pickup installed and was totally blown away by the results. Mic'ed or direct, this guitar has guts. The low end can shake walls while the top end is clean and bright (but not even remotely harsh). Mid-range is smooth and mellow for a very well rounded tone.

The only upgrade I would ever recommend besides adding a pickup (if needed) would be upgrading the tuners. While I haven't had too many problems with the original plastic pegs, they can rattle a bit. They do hold tune as long as everything else is setup properly.

If you can get your hands on one of these, it is an extremely under-rated, inexpensive, beautiful guitar that can hold its own against most other high-end guitars.

i bought my fg400a in a pawnshop in 1998 for $125. had i known then what i know about it now i would have paid more. just thought it would be a good practice guitar. it has always been a very solid guitar. stays in tune like you wouldnt believe. i'll never part with this beauty.
