Yamaha FG 340T

Like to know the value of a Yamaha FG 340 T.

Also is rating as far as playability goes.

ANSWER

Hi, Gregory--
The FG 340T was introduced in 1981. The "T" apparently has no significant meaning--Yamaha just added letter suffixes to all of their models during that year.

The Blue Book say this: "We were unable to compile any information on the FG Series between approximately the mid-1970s and the late 1980s because there are no catalogs available for that time period."

I was able to find a discussion which should help answer both of your questions--value and playability:

Yamaha 340

It looks like the contributors to the discussion are talking about the 340T and not the 340 that was introduced in 1977.

Hopefully this will be of some help.

Best Wishes,
Lynne

Hi, the "T" in the Yamaha 340T stands for Tinted giving the guitar a dark pumpin orange tint of color. This guitar is a winner!

Yep. Agree with all of the above. Great player with great tone. Recently bought a Gibson J50ADJ.
A little part of me thinks that maybe I should have saved my money. My understanding is that the T stands for tint.

Found one in a pawn shop about 4 years ago for $129...a few dings here and there but the tone and playability were tremendous. It has become my favorite to play(have Martin D-35 and Guild J30). Picked up another one up from C-List($175) for my daughter to take to college. Solid sound and nice lows. The T is for "Tinted" and the color is known as amber. Worth much more than paid.

Fg 340 T

I used to own one of these guitars.
I think it is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played. Maybe it is just a case of nestolgia. In any case,
The T in the Model number stands for Tobacco
it is a rich light brown color.

Hi, the "T" in the FG340T stands for a colour(Tan) sort of a pumpkin or burnt tone.
I have a friend who has 4 of the fg340t. Hope this helps. This is one of the nicest smooth sounding Yamahas I've ever played. It's not a boomer! A great buy at $275.00/$325.00 in any country

Thanks

I saw one at a Goodwill Auction starting a $75 bid and I was thinking of bidding on it. After reading the link, I better make sure the bridge isn't bulging.
