Why Does My Guitar Go Out of Tune?

(NYC)

Why does my guitar keep knocking out of tune? And I didn't just put new strings on.

ANSWER

Your question is not very specific, so it is hard for me to give an informed answer. Here are several reasons why strings go out of tune:

1. OLD strings tend not to hold a pitch. You should change your strings before the sound starts to disintegrate.

2. The intonation on your guitar may need to be set--take it to a guitar repair shop and have it checked.

3. The bridge may be out of adjustment--take it to the repair shop.

4. The strings may be put on improperly.

Hope this helps--
