Washburn Flying V

by scott hedges
(golden valley az. usa)

only # on it is k850402 was just wondering what is worth rounded corners and stock with large chrome tremolo system with pullies and fine turner on the neck with 2 solid pick ups with washburn printed on them rosewood neck 2 pieces can not find info on it anywhere.

ANSWER

Hi, Scott--

I think I may have it narrowed down to the "Wing" series, specifically the 1985 Hawk, but there are discrepancies. The 1985 Hawk had a 3 piece neck, but the rest of it fits.

Do you have any idea of the MODEL name? The serial number indicates 1985. Does this sound possible?

I would love to help--could we get a picture?

Lynne

I have serial # 842550. I'm thinking about modding mine, but am trying to find out if it's worth any money first.

I have a 1984 Washburn Flying V....
by: MRW

While I have not found much information on this guitar, and need some minor parts for the WonderBar...I purchased this V, brand new, many years ago.

1984 Washburn ?Flying V? Body Electric Guitar
Model / Serial Number # 842459
6 string, ?V? Shaped, Solidbody, Electric, Guitar

Guitar is White with Black Trim,
( the white lacquer paint has not aged very gracefully, and over the years has acquired a slight yellowish tint to it. Some from age and also from playing many smoky bars, and live concerts.)
Stock: 2 Volume Pots / 1 Single Tone Control Pot.
Stock Washburn 3 way Pickup switch with std. Neck/Mid/Bridge arrangement. 3
3 ea. Stock Humbucker Covered Coil Pickups, Triple Layout Arrangement,
each set is Black w/ the Washburn Logo in white on each one.

Note:
1 ea. Washburn ?After Market Installed? Locking Nut, ?WonderBar? Floating/ Thru the Locking Nut, Tremolo System, in Black.

WonderBar Tremelo System was purchased and professionally installed, by a professional Luthier, located in San Antonio, the week after delivery in 1984: Washburn ?WonderBar? Tremolo System has remained on the guitar since purchase.

Noted imperfections, dings and damage:

Cracked and reglued corner of Head Stock at the 1st string Tuning Peg?This has been this way for years, and held up under tremendous pressure, with the tuning peg noticeably reinstalled and turned at an angle at time of repair, but due to the WonderBar Locking Nut Tremelo System, not much pressure is located on this peg!

Small Hairline Crack at neck.

Small Hairline Crack at base of neck, where neck meets body.
Both have been there for years.
