Guild - Model A50- serial # 41669
by Susan
(CT)
Please help me determine value of this guitar (Guild- Model A 50 Serial # 41669). It was passed down to me by my father who got it as collateral from a man who borrowed money from him (I think in mid 60's). The man never returned to recover the guitar. It is in the original hard case, has the original guarantee label inside the guitar. It is in mint condition and has never been played since my father received it. Very curious about it's value.

Here's another guitar I recently purchased that I'm interested in the value. I have an offer on the table, but I don't know if it's a good one or not.
The Serial # is: KJ10098
I believe it is original unless the pickup installed by John Jordon came after the fact. The finish is in good shape, but there is some buckle rash on the back. Also, there is a hairline crack in the bridge, but nothing major.
Thanks!

Hi, Marc--
The Blue Book indicates that the F212 XL was first manufactured in 1966. Here are the prices:

The F212 standard was manufactured as early as 1964.

I could find no information about a F12 model made in 1961, but the prices for these two models are so similar that maybe it will be of some help to you.

I have owned this guitar for quite some time. In my humble opinion it sounds and plays better the les paul standards. I believe the guitar was made between 85-91. It is in perfect condition.
Hi, Jeff--
BEAUTIFUL!!!
This is a bit confusing because the only Bluesbirds listed in the Blue Book have pick guards. Then I found a site with YOUR guitar pictured--indicating that the pick guard was available but not mounted.
Here is the link to the site:

And here is the Blue Book information for the guitar that I think is yours:
BLUESBIRD STD (NO. 360-6400) - single round cutaway bound solid mahogany body, internal sound chambers, carved maple top, raised black pickguard, mahogany neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl block inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/stop tailpiece, blackface peghead with pearl Chesterfield/logo inlay, 3-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, 2 Seymour Duncan SH-1 humbucker pickups, 2 volume/2 tone controls, 3-position switch, available in Black, Gold Metallic, or Trans. Red finishes, mfg. 1995-2003.
