The Gibson (acoustical)
The Gibson
My father passed away at the age of 81 last November. He has a guitar that he always told me was a "Jimmie Rodgers Special". It has an arched front and an arched back with a hole in the center. It also has a pearl inlay at the base of the neck saying "Jimmy Rodgers Special" it has since fallen off. The number 831 is stamped on the base of the neck inside the guitar. He received this guitar in his late teens and he took it with him when he was in World War 2. Any information about the guitar or its value would be appreciated.
ANSWERThe guitar appears to be a Gibson L4. I am guessing about the year by the information that you gave me about your Father's age when he acquired the guitar.
