This is a 1982 Takamine F-363D model with original flight case. Condition is excellent, with serial number 82071267.

ANSWER

Hi, Gordon--

This one is mysteriously missing from the Blue Book.
From internet research, it appears to be a mystery guitar.

Gotta love that F-363
by: Mussellamn

I had a look the forum whilst trying to find some info on this instrument.Interesting to see that people are not finding much; as was the trail of my searching.
Like most of you, I love this guitar. In fact everyone (lots over the years)who have played it, comments on it's beautiful smooth playability and crisp tone.Over the years I have tried it with various gauges of strings and styles. It pretty much sounds good ( but different) with all of them.At one stage when I was playing lots of electric, I even put electric strings on it to practice bends. These days I run it with a very low action and light/heavy strings. This was as a result of my only "complaint" about it being a bit loud and bright on the top end. A heavier bottom E gave a warmer balance of sound.

The neck...ah how I love that neck!

I now make some guitars in Melbourne Australia and shape my necks based upon the feel the F-363. A little flatter around the 9th fret maybe. The way the finger board rolls it the neck is a beautiful feature.I have small hands so I really notice and appreciate it.
I am currently looking after a friends EG10sc. Also lovely to play. Very nice having the cut away and pick up, but I would have to say the f363 still feel more "friendly" to play. It may just be familiarity but to me it just feel easier and more natural.
Glad to find there are other lovers out there.
Happy playing Mark

F-363D
by: Anonymous

Hi,

I have one of these guitars. Serial No.82071281.

If I did not have one I would not believe they existed as they do not rate much of a mention anywhere in Takamine history.

I wonder why. It's not a bad guitar by any means.

Takamine F363D
by: Stephen D. Regan

I believe that the "D" stands for "dreadnaught" which means it is a large body guitar with excellent volume and projection. I own one two but it has the old across the top logo. I purchased it for a bargain while taking some guitar lessons in Vermillion, South Dakota. I paid $200 but it was marked $250. I love it and so does my son.

I'd never think of selling it

Still not correct...
by: Andy

I have a Tak F-363D serial number 78092040, date stamped September 6 1978. It's made in Japan. It has the Tak logo that they were sued over by Martin. You never gave a value to this guitar.

More info
by: Anonymous

I found the F-363 and F-363S on Takamine's web site...so not such a mystery afterall.
I am not quite sure what the "D" means, but I found some description (http://www.takamine.com/?fa=detail&mid=1067&sid=351). It says that the F-363 is a laminated body whereas the F-363S is solid wood for the body. Possibly the "S" stands for "Solid".
I was once told that my F-363D had a laminated body, so it is probably a minor variation of the F-363, where the "D" possibly designates "Sunburst" paint job.

Interesting
by: Anonymous

Thanks for that, Lynne.
Very interesting stuff. This guitar was not a mystery back in the early '90s, but I guess must have become lost (or legendary) in the mists of time. ;-)
I have included a comment to the post on that site to add to it...
