Storing Drums-Is Heat Bad?
by: Anonymous

I have a starter TAMA drumset..I am currently storing it in my furnance room, and being that it is winter our furnance is running 24/7. Is this dry heat damaging my drumset?

ANSWER

Too dry is also damaging as the wood will dry out and become brittle. Best to store it in more moderate conditions.

is there any chance i can use a blanket or something to put over them i will be leaving a heater on in there 1 hour a day also and i have put a blanket over them now.

ANSWER

Matthew--

Like I said, it is not so much the cold as the humidity. There is a product that I use for my drum studio--it is called "Dri-Z-Air. It is very inexpensive and does a GREAT job of taking moisture out of a room. I bought mine on EBay.
