Sound Modules With Acoustic Drumset

What does a sound module when used with an acoustic drum set do? and what do the triggers plug into? Also what is the laptop for? All this question refer to what some drummers have beside them when they are playing live.

Hi, Zach--

The triggers attach to each drum and each trigger has a 1/4" phone jack which you take a cord out of and then into the sound module, which is like a synthesizer for your drums.

The laptop is used as a controller for synth and sequencing.

Just start with the triggers and the sound module--the software for the sound module will lead you to the rest.
