I can not find a model # any where on this used guitar,it,s a Sigma Its used and looks old,,It only has 5 serial #s It must have had a paper sticker in it at one time but its gone,,only number i can find is 81005,just want to find out what model it is ???,Sigma Guitars EST, 1970 , is on the headstock,,Number 81005 is inside body,,thanks if you can help.

ANSWER

Hi, D--

Sigma guitars cannot be identified easily by serial numbers. They have been in production sporadically since 1970. If you could send a picture or a complete description, I might be able to help.

I have a Sigma DM-3
by: Dave

I think it it from 1971...It has the sticker inside the soundhole with the model # (DM-3) and the serial # (SK 101121)...Does anyone know how I would find out more of validating the year?....Also inside up at the neck are the numbers 129097...I don't know where to go with this to find out the year it was actually made... do know it was made in Korea....but it does not have a date on it!.......Anyone HELP or SUGGESTIONS?

question about DR-28
by: Anonymous

I also recently purchased a Sigma DR-28H with a serial number 847879, stamped Martin inside. Sigma Guitars Est 1970 in gold on headstock, perfect condition, plays more ALIVE than any guitar I own. I wanted a Martin look but didn't want another expensive guitar. I already have a Yari Alverez and think a Japan made instrument is well done.
I assume the back and sides are laminate but the top is solid spruce. It plays the way I want and that is what is important to me.
Anyone have anything to add to my knowledge of this guitar would be appreciated.

Sigma Guitar
by: Scott

Hi - I recently picked up a Sigma Guitar with the serial number 81011, very close to yours. There is no paper label, and lacks the common stamp inside giving the model and the Martin & Co logo as found in most later models (Korean and Tawain). I'm thinking it may be from Japan, from the early 80's, but I'm not certain. There is a small round stamp off to the side of the center inside which is quite faded...I think it may be a DM-1, or possibly a DR-1 (since the fretboard is rosewood I believe).
