SIgma GCS-6 Serial 3442 Acoustic 6 String
by Steven R. Townshend
(Chestertown Maryland, USA)
I have had it since 1972. An uncle gave it to me as i began showing interest in playing guitar. It was explained to me that the guitar was an antique back then. It was also insinuated that it had great value. I played for several years, moved to electric, went to college, started working, and its been in the closet for 20+ years. Inside on the plate it says imported and inspected by the CF Martin Organization of Nazareth Pa. I cant find any more writing on guitar. Out of a rating of 100% i would give it a 80%. In original case, used, some normal scratch's from normal play. 1 tuner is partially missing. The twister and housing on back with gears on one string is missing. Just curious of the value. Can u supply me with an origional tuner to replace the missing one so it wont look like a replacement. How much for the tuner. I dont have any pictures as of yet, but if u need to give a value let me know and i will borrow a digital camera and send pictures.
Thanks

Hi Steven--
From the Blue Book:
"In 1970, the Martin Guitar Company expanded its product line by introducing the Sigma line. The instruments begin their assembly in Japan, and then are shipped in to Pennsylvania where the Martin company can oversee the final finishing and setup. Sigma guitars are great introductory models to the classic Martin design."
**There is no listing in the Blue Book for the GCS-6. This just means that collectors are not interested in this model at this time.
I was able to find a few on the internet for sale at $200. to $450.
Best wishes,
Lynne
