Should I Practice on a 6 String before playing a 12 String guitar?

hello my question is i have a 6 string and a 12 string both acoustic. i like the 12 string best and is what i want to learn to play. to practice is it easier to learn on the 6 string and then go to the 12 string or should i start out with the 12 and do all my practicing with the 12 since that is what i want to play. i am a beginner. thank you

Hi, Alan--

Since you are just beginning to play, you might find it easier to form the chords on the 6 string to begin with. Then when you are comfortable and can change chord positions easily, you can transfer your skill to the 12 string.
