Quarter Note Triplets

by Christopher Orlando
(Marmora NJ)

I've been programming songs into my drum machine for some time now and have gotten triplets down pretty good, but I am confused by a recent tab that I bought. In "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith, there are what I believe to be 3 Quarter Note triplets in measure 26 that take up 2 beats. Do you have any idea how to program these into a drum machine. (My machine DOES allow for triplets of all values)

Thank You Very Much

ANSWER

Hi, Christopher--

Quarter note triplets function exactly the same as other triplets--three notes played in the time that you would normally play two notes.

Just program them into your machine the same way that you program other triplets except use the quarter note value.

Best Wishes,
Lynne
