Piano-Minor-Chords
Just a Half-Step Away!

Learn Piano minor chords here!

If you learned the major chords well, the piano-minor-chords will be no problem! Here is how you do it: Move the middle note down one-half step.

This is a picture of the "C" minor chord. Remember that "C" major is C E and G? Just move the "E" down one-half step to Eb and you have "C" minor. What could be easier?

For "D" minor, move the "F#" down to F. It works for every major chord. In general, if the major chord has a white key in the middle, the minor chord will have a black key and vice versa.

Here is a diagram of all twelve minor chords:

You should memorize these chords. You can divide them into two groups.

1.C G D A E B F

2.F# C# Ab Eb Bb

By the way, do you wish you could learn songs faster? Would you like to be able to learn a song just by hearing it? The program that I use to help my students is called "Pure Pitch". To learn more about this great program, Click Here!. Take just minute to check it out.(Opens in a new window)

Chord Progressions

When you know all of the major and minor chords, you can practice these (hold each chord for 4 counts}:

C / Am / Dm / G /

G / Em / C / D /

D / Bm / G / A /

A /F#m / Bm / E /

E / C#m / F#m / B /

Now you can hop in a time machine, go back to the 1950's, and be a ROCK STAR!
