Martin J-21
by: tzjcomet

The J-21 is a fantastic guitar. It is the exact same body, neck, tuning pegs, and fretboard as the J-40. The J-21 is just not ornate. It is simple, classic, clean and sweet sounding. The best bass the best high end. My understanding is that less than 2000 were made. Finding one that is in excellent condition for anything less that 2200 is, in my opinion, as very good deal. It is a lifetime guitar.

Martin J 21 MC 1986
by: gt

I have a Martin J21 MC 1986. Rosewood. Fine neck and unsusal detailing.eg Ebony tuning pegs.

The label on the guitar says it was made to commemorate CF Martin 111.

It is a wonderful guitar, easily the best Martin I have ever played. Rich bass and sweet mids and highs. Amazing balanced sound. Very loud.

Martin J-21 M revisited
by: WCC

I ordered a Martin J-21 M in 1985 or '86 through Gruhn's in Nashville. I was impressed with the new Martin Jumbo offerings, but the J-40 M just looked over decorated to me. The J-21 M served me well and I enjoyed playing it for a number of years. As I recall, it seemed well balanced for a guitar with a large body. My love for guitars with smaller bodies finally won out, and I traded the J-21 M for an OM.
