Martin flattop 1-21 1918

by Danny
(Warren, Pa.)

In excellent condition. Bridge was reset. replaced strap peg and one string peg. Rest of guitar is original. Has ivory tuner knobs, nut, and saddle. Pittsburgh guitars reset bridge. They told me there were only 44 of these made. Don't have a picture and does not have case.

ANSWER

Hi, Danny--

The serial number came up as late 1918/early 1919. The "1" indicates a "size 1"--a smaller body size than regular Martins. The Size 1 had a lower bout width of 12 3/4 in., 4 3/16 in. depth, 18.875 in. length, and 24.9 in. scale.

The Blue Book says:

"As a general guideline, Size 1 instruments are typically priced in the $1,100 - $3,500 price range, depending on appointments, features, and condition."

Hope this helps!
Lynne
