Martin DM

by Mechille
(Kingsport, TN, USA)

Hello. I have a Martin DM guitar. The serial # is 583514. I went to Martin's web site, but still am not sure what year this serial number falls under. I would like to know what year it was made and what it is worth. It is in excellent condition.
Thank You.
Mechille

ANSWER

Hi, Mechille--

The serial number indicates a mid 1996 manufacture date.

I think that the Model is OM rather than DM.The O series is the "Standard Orchestra" series. The D series has numbers, not letters.

The date indicates that the guitar is probably an OM 21. Here is the Blue Book general info:

OM-21
- orchestra body style, solid Sitka spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, round soundhole with Style 28 rosette, tortoise color binding, select hardwood neck, 14/20-fret rosewood fingerboard with Style 28 dot inlays, rosewood headstock overlay with raised gold foil logo, three-per-side chrome tuners, rosewood bridge, black bridge pins with white dots, available in Natural or Sunburst (optional) finish, 25.4 in. scale, mfg. 1993-present.

The pricing info:

Excellent $1,250 - 1,450
Average $800 - 950
