1983 Martin D28
by: Uncle Mike from Upstate NY

I have a D28 in excellent condition purchased in 1983, which was, serendipitously, the 150th anniversary of the Martin Guitar Company. Didn't plan that, but would be curious what it is worth. Any ideas out there?

martin d45 1983 brazillian
by: robert

I own a 1983 Martin d45 brazillian rosewood
ser. # 444065 150 year anniversary and it's signed by the two henry's. It has lacquer checks and wear spots from playing. I put this guitar up to any dreadnought and it will win. If you're interested my email is degraaf@interconnect.net
I also own a fair amount of vintage martins
from 1918 to 1962
d28, 0028,0018, d21, d18-12.

Anniversary D-45
by: Anonymous

It is my understanding that all Martin guitars manufactured in 1983 were stamped on the inside of the backstrip bracing "Martin Anniversary 1833-1933" to commemorate their 100th year. True Anniversary Limited Editions guitars had a double-signed paper label attached to the inside of the back, visible through the sound hole. So, unless your D-45 has that label, it would be a standard D-45. You don't have to take my word for it, just call Martin and give them the serial #,they will be happy to identify your guitar.
Don't be too disappointed, you still have a "top of the line" Martin guitar, not too shabby.

d45 1983 anniversary
by: Anonymous

I am surprised that the value used in above comments used the price guide for 1980-1989. Those are low blue booked at $5k to $6k.
The anniversary model is a brazilian rosewood to celebrate the 150th year anniversary. If you simply look at any of the d45 brazilians guitars, the value doubles or even triples. Current price guide 2010 is the first to separate this guitar out of that 80-89 category with a bluebook of $16k-$19k. Somebodies using old books or didn't know this was a Brazilian rosewood D-45.
