Martin D-28 F 505174

by Kevin Richardson
(Seagrove NC)

Just wondering what the value is?

Answer

Hello, Kevin--

The serial number 505174 indicates that your guitar was manufactured in 1932! This is indeed exciting if this is the correct serial number. I would LOVE to hear about your history with this guitar!

OK--the Blue Book Says:

1931-1933 Herringbone

Excellent Condition $95,000 - 105,000

Average Condition $60,000 - 70,000

Best Wishes!

Lynne

Wrong Serial No. for 1932
by: Anonymous

This serial number actually indicates a manufacture year of 1991. See http://www.maurysmusic.com/martin_serial_numbers
and http://www.provide.net/~cfh/martin.html. Sorry to say this is probably not worth quite as much as a 1932 model!

******

You are absolutely right! I think I read the serial number wrong. Here are the Blue Book values for 1991:

1990-1999

Excellent $1,400 - 1,750
Average $1,000 - 1,200

Thanks for pointing out my error!

Lynne
