Martin D18 (1942), National guitar (1931), National mandolin (1931)
by Edward Loechler
(Brookline, MA)
1. Martin D18 (80300) early 1942. Low action, straight neck, great sound. A few blemishes. No cracks, though some repaired. I have original tuners. Original bridge, slightly sanded. Fret job needed in a few years, but OK.
2. Natioanl Steel Guitar (C480) 1930 or 1931, I think. Low action, straight neck, great sound. A few dings, but good shape. All original.
3. National Steel Mandolin (C435) also 1930 or 1931. Low action, great sound. A few dings and paint rubbed away a bit where strummed. Neck reset. Tailpiece was repaired (re-welded) and replatted by the current National Company.
ANSWER
Hi, Edward--
You have some nice guitars!
Martin D18 1942
1939-1944 Excellent Condition: $20,000-25,000
Average Condition: $13,000 - 16,000
National Steel Guitar
I will need a photo for this one. You can upload it directly to this page via the "comments" page.
Mational Steel Mandolin
I also need a picture of this one. Mandolins are more difficult to trace and price. The Blue Book does not list them. I will attempt to find it, however, if you upload a photo.
NOTE
The photos need to show the body and the headstock clearly. You may need 2 photos for different views.
I will look forward to hearing from you!
Lynne
