Martin 1990 Custom 15 Dreadnought Serial # 503144

Hi Again Lynne--

Can you provide an estimated value for this guitar? There was no additional information provided about the model-- the imprint inside the guitar says "Custom" with the serial number, that's it. The other information is from the original purchase receipt.

Many thanks,

--Greg

ANSWER

Hi, Greg--

Here is the General info:

Custom 15/Custom HD-28 Rosewood
- similar to the HD-28, except has a V-shaped neck, unbound ebony fingerboard with slotted-diamond inlays, chrome tuners, and a tortoiseshell pickguard, mfg. 1980-1995.

The pricing info:

Excellent $1,750 - 2,000
Average $1,275 - 1,450

The Big Question (Brazilian or Indian Rosewood?)
by: Anonymous

Hello,

I once owned a 1986 Martin Custom 15 Dreadnought, and it had Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides.

This model preceded the HD-28V model, which is offered today, and having the same features.

To get the most accurate price assessment, you must determine if your guitar has Indian Rosewood or Brazilian rosewood?

If Brazilian, the value will be exponentially greater than a similar guitar having Indian rosewood back and sides.

Why not call Martin guitars and ask them when they changed this model's body woods from Brazilian to Indian rosewood?

Regards,

Glen
