Martin 000-18 Serial # 94434
by tony
(u.s.)
I was wondering if you could please tell me the value of this guitar. I am not going to sell it but I am just learning to play and this is my grandpas guitar.
If the value is high i will just go and buy a cheap acoustic until I know how to play the martin.
ANSWER
Hi, Tony--
The serial number indicates that your guitar was manufactured in early 1946.
Here is the Blue Book pricing for your guitar:
1945-1946 Excellent $6,500 - 8,000 Average $4,000 - 5,000
Tony, you have a VERY nice guitar. The thing is, if you treat it well, go ahead and learn on it. Most beginners do not have a fine instrument on which to learn. Guitars love to be played and I think that your grandfather would be proud that you are learning on his guitar.
