Lyle 6-string acoustic model #A-692
by Dan
(Renton, WA USA)
Lyle A-692
I am the original owner of a Lyle acoustic guitar that I received as a gift in 1968/69. It has rosewood back, sides and back of neck. Great glossy finish all over. No cracks or major dings (a couple very minor dings on back). The original product sticker with model and serial number is affixed to the inside body of the guitar. I would like to know my guitar is of any collectible value besides it's sentimental value. Thanks!
Hi, Dan--
It is a beautiful guitar. Here is the Blue Book info. about Lyle guitars:
"Instruments previously built in Japan between 1969 and 1980. Distributed by the L.D. Heater company in Portland, OR. The Lyle product line consisted of acoustic and acoustic/electric archtop guitars, as well as solid body electric guitars and basses. These entry level to intermediate quality guitars featured designs based on popular American models. These instruments were manufactured by the Matsumoku company, which supplied models for both the Arai (Aria, Aria Pro II) company and the early 1970s Epiphone models. Used prices on Lyle guitars are typically between $100 and $150 depending on condition."
***This does not mean that it is not a good guitar--just that collectors are not really looking for them right now.
Best Wishes, Lynne
