Little Martin 0-18

by Scotty
(Kentucky)

I have a Little Martin 0-18 serial number 47687, the serial and model is stanped inside, under the neck. It is in good condition with some scratches. It was purchased by my uncle and it doesn't have the orgional case. I'm not sure what year it was made. Can you give me an idea of what it is worth? and what year it was made. I included a couple pictures. Thanks

ANSWER

Hi, Scotty--

The serial number that you provided comes up mid-1931.

Here is the Blue Book pricing info:

1918-1931
Excellent $2,750 - 3,250
Average $1,800 - 2,200

I have 0018C 1965
by: Anonymous

I cannot read the serial # in the wood, and am looking for the original paaperwork.
Bought it in 1965, sealed it up in the case, wnet to Nam, came bck and of course became a star!

I'v e wondered what mine is worth.
The 1931 pic looks similar to mine. Looks to be in good shape for the age.

I had my neck realigned in 1978, and it has never moved.

Great sounding classic, especially for blues.

the blue book prices
by: Anonymous

From what i have seen the blue book prices reflect wholesale price and not retail. I think the prices have also climbed a little.

Vintage 0-18
by: Scott R.

I have 2 of these guitars. One has a 3" X 1.5" patch in the back and the back has been refinished. The bridge has been replaced with a pyramid style. Other than that, the guitar is original including the finish. Would that be considered fair or good?
The other one is all original but the bridge has been replaced with an original style straight bridge. There are a few repaired side cracks. The top and back are free of any cracks. Fair or good? In my opinion, they are good. Both have good action and are very playable. I was wondering what your opinion is?

ANSWER

Hi, Scott--

ANY alterations will detract from the value of a vintage guitar. Refinishing is the worst. Here is a link to a Free PDF guide:
