Any users of the Line 6 Backtrack or M-Audio Fast Track that might be able to provide some insight into which might be better for a recreational player?

It depends on what you want to do. The Line 6 Backtrack is meant simply to save your licks and ideas so that you can use them for future recording.

The M-Audio Fast Track is a digital interface that you use to plug instruments or vocals into your computer for use with recording software to actually record studio quality tracks.
