Kiso- Suzuki W65A

by Teresa

Hi,
I was hoping to get an idea of value for my guitar.
On the pick guard there is a white dove and red roses.
The markings on the inside:

Kiso Suzuki
W65A (I think)
Kiso Suzuki Violin Company

It is all orig and looks like new. I've had it since around mid seventies I believe.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
Teresa

ANSWER
Hi, Teresa--

These guitars are not listed in the Blue Book. I could find no real information on the internet. All indications are that the guitars are not considered to be of any great value by collectors, although they are loved by the people who own them.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Lynne

Kiso Suzuki Dove/Hummingbird
by: Jinder

Hi Teresa,
Kiso Suzuki guitars are uncommon and very pleasant instruments...I mainly play Gibsons, but I have written many, many songs with my old Kiso Hummingbird. It sounds like you have the Dove model. Similar but with Maple back and sides.

Alas there is very little demand for them amongst collectors or enthusiasts because, as lovely as they usually are, most 70s Kiso acoustics are made with laminate woods. If your guitar is in mint condition, you could well see it fetch £150, if less tidy then in the £85-£100 region. It is sad, as they are often delightful instruments that deserve to be played and loved.

If you do decide to part with yours, do let me know as I would be interested in giving it a good home-my e-mail address is mmjinder (at) googlemail (dot) com. Just replace the bracketed words with @ and . (spam avoidance technique!)

Thanks for checking Lynn...I was thinking about selling it and just didn't know where to start. Maybe someone will have some ideas that can help me with what to ask for it.
Thanks again!
Teresa
