I'd love any info you can give me about this guitar, it's an acoustic Kay, 39 inches long, and I was told it is unusual because the neck is very small, the nut is only 1.5 inch across. It's probably from the 1950's, since it's been in the family for 40+ years, and was bought used.
While we'd never sell it, it'd be nice to have a clue about it. There is no paper inside it, but there are these codes: N-2 and L54212(the last 2 is hand written, not stamped like the rest), I tried to take a photo of them but it came out pretty blurry.
ANSWERHi, Tina--
It is incredibly difficult to get accurate information about Kay guitars. Most of these instruments were entry level or students instruments and are not 9nj any great demand by collectors.
The only models that are collectable have the "Kelvinator" logo on the headstock. Your guitar does not have this logo.
I was able to find 2 similar guitars for sale on the internet. The owners estimated the guitars to be late 50's to early 60's manufacture dates.
One of these guitars was selling for $109.00 and the other for $200.00.
Sorry I could not find more specific information.
