Jose Ramirez Studio 1977

Hi,
I have been given a Jose Ramirez Guitar by my father.
He bought it about 30 years ago for 400 GBP with the case shown in the photo.

The care leaflet that came with it reads
"Concepcion Jeronima No.5 + T No. 2279935 + Madrid"
It also has a 4 handwritten on it with a circle around it. (May be nothing).

The Label inside the guitar reads
"Guitarras De Estudio.
Conception Jeronima no.2
Ano 1977 Madrid"

I've included a photo.

Regards,
Adam.

ANSWER

Hi, Adam--

The Blue Book does not list these guitars separately. This is a "Studio" guitar, which are the student line of Ramirez guitars.

It appears to be either an "E" series, or an "R" series guitar--I can't tell which from the picture. Can you find a model number anywhere?

The "4" probably refers to the model within the "E" or "R" classification and is used to denote the kind of wood used in the construction.

The problem is in evaluating the guitar is that we need a model indication.

The Blue Book says this:

"The R Series feature guitars ranging in price from $1,659 to $3,299. The E Series feature guitars ranging from $2,469 to $4,899."

Regrettably, without a model, I can't do research to find out what 1977's are selling for. Please let me know if you find any other information.

Lynne

Thanks Lynne

I'm afraid there are no markings to indicate a particular model type.
I don't know if the pattern around the sound hole or the style of the machine heads would help. If so I could include close up photos.
If not, then thanks for looking.
Regards,
Adam.

ANSWER

Hi, Adam--

I don't know either--these Ramirez guitars are difficult to track down. If you want to send the photos, I will try, but I'm not sure there is much difference between the E and R series except for the types of wood.

In the meantime, here is a link to their contact page:

Maybe they could help. They seem to be really a really dedicated family.
