Chorus
by: Jeff Roberts

Wow, what a hard chorus beat! Also, my toms do not sound well with Remo Weatherking Pinstripe drum heads with Evans tone rings(drums are Pearl Exports) and no dampers. They sound too bongo-ey. Any advice? I have 8, 10, 12, 13, 16 and 18 in toms. It seems like groups like U2 use very large toms, or am I mistaken?

ANSWER

Hi, Jeff--

If the chorus cymbal part is hard to play with one hand, experiment with playing the two hand style of 16th and leaving out the cymbal when the snare hits.

About the Toms:

You might want to try different heads. Alternately, you could just get some REM O's, which work much better than the built in tone rings.
