Ibanez Artcore AS-73 Won't Stay in Tune

by JAMES OLIVER
(JOHNSON CITY,TN.)

I purchased an Ibanez Artcore AS-73 on line about a week ago.The guitar will not stay in tune.I replaced the factory machines with locking tuners, however this hasn't helped much.I took it to a professional for a set up, but it didn't solve the problem.Am I out 400.00 bucks? Any suggestions?
Thanks

ANSWER

Hi, James--

The only other thing that I can think of is that the strings, if they are new, need to be stretched when you put them on. If you do not stretch them, they will continue to stretch on their own for quite some time and will therefore cause the guitar to go out of tune.

You might also want to try a slightly heavier gauge of strings. Having the intonation set by a professional is always a good idea, but it has more to do with the guitar being in tune the entire length of the neck than with the guitar staying in tune.

Let me know if this helps.

Lynne
