How Long Does it Take to Learn Guitar?

by james

Hi, i was wandering how long roughly does it take to get good enough at guitar to be able to play along with my favourite songs from the fratellis, mcfly and arctic monkeys, I know that it can vary but i can at most learn an hour a day and will have a teacher to help me. I know a bit of a stupid question but just a guide, also how should i practice, thanks alot, James

ANSWER

Hi, James--

Not really a stupid question, just a hard one to answer. There are so many variables, including your learning style and the teaching style of your teacher.

The best answer I can give you is that it will take as long as it takes. If you begin now and practice, you will know how to play your favorite songs at some point. On the other hand, if you DON'T star now and practice, you will never be able to play your favorite songs.

You should practice exactly as your teacher tells you and then, given a reasonable amount of time and practice, if you are not progressing, find a different teacher.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes!
Lynne
