Hofner Galaxy 176

1963 Hofner Galaxy 176

Hello I have a 1963 Hofner Galaxy 176 that I am trying to figure a fare value for. Not intending to sell it but more for insurance purposes!

It is the red body version and I have had some minor work done to it by professionals to make it playable again! It does look like it has been dropped and the first pickup has a minor dent in it but all still works and all the electronics still work. I can take pictures...if that would help assess the value! There is cracking in the paint but everything is original minus the nut. That was the part that was bad that made it unplayable! Thanks for any help :)

ANSWER

Hi Christian--

The Blue Book does not list this model, which indicates that it is in no great demand by collectors. I can tell you that the solid body models that are listed are selling for between $80 and $275, depending on condition.

Galaxy

Hi.
I live on the Isle of Wight and have a Galaxy in red too, but it was in poor condition when I bought it back in 1993, but I still giged with it for a year.
The paint is cracked all over, it has no arm,and I would occasionally knock a switch whilst strumming but who cares, I love it :-)

Don't even think of selling it. It's one of the best guitars you can get. I too have one (original and Mint) and have been offered whole load to sell it. But no, I will never sell it. nd don't listen to anyone else. They are jealous because you have one !

If you do decide you want to get rid of it, I'll gladly take it. I'll of course pay for shipping to Canada as well. b1gbadwolf@msn.com :D
