Harmony Stella 1978

by Trina
(Fort St. James)

I was given a H6132 Harmony Stella acoustic guitar by my grandfather right before he passed away...I don't care about the value other than curiousity sake.. .I am trying to find out anything about it.

So far I think I have discovered that it was probably made in 1978 in Asia. It is small, which makes me think it might be parlour size, and is a flat top sunburst.

Can anyone tell me anything else about it, including the value? It is in what I would consider low excellent (maybe high average) condition. I am learning to play it and it seems to have fantastic sound (according to anyone who plays it). Thanks ever so much for any help!

ANSWER

Hi, Trina--

You are correct regarding the year and country of manufacture.

This model is not listed in the Blue Book. I found one on eBay for $99.00. Also found one at Goodwill for $35.00.

The low prices don't mean that it is not a good guitar. The absence of it in the Blue Book just means that it is in no particular demand by collectors.

Maybe some of our readers will have more information for you.

I have a full size harmony stella that was made in chicago illinois. and i love playing it. i bought it at goodwill and it was in terrible condition. I learned to work on old musical stringed instruments from my dad as a youngster.
The older guitars and stringed instruments are like old friends, you grow fonder of them with every passing day.
I say if you like it,keep it and play it,the older it gets the better you will enjoy it.
Goodluck and enjoyment,
fare ye well,olo lefty
