Guild S-300AD Bld 1977

by Laurent
(Marseille, France)

Guild S300 AD

Guild S300 AD

Hello,

I am looking to find out the value of a Guild guitar I just acquired.
Good overall condition, likely 1977 per serial number, all parts are original.
I love that guitar and don't plan to sell it, but I would really appreciate to now the exact value.

Best Regards

ANSWER

Hi, Laurent--

Beautiful guitar!

The guitar is a combination of models:

The Blue Book info:

S-300
- offset double cutaway mahogany body, distinctly rounded tail end, black pickguard, mahogany neck, 24-fret ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/fixed tailpiece, blackface peghead with pearl Chesterfield/logo inlay, 3-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, 2 single coil pickups, 2 volume/2 tone controls, 3-position/phase switches, available in Black, Red, or White finishes, mfg. 1976-1989.

S-300 A
- similar to S-300, except has an ash body and maple neck, mfg. 1977-1982

S-300 D
- similar to S-300, except has 2 DiMarzio humbucker pickups, mfg. 1977-1982.

So it appears that you have an S-300 A but with the Dimarzio humbuckers.

Here is the Blue Book pricing for the S-300 A:

Mint $1,250
Exc.+ $1,000
Exc. $800
Avg.+ $650
Avg. $525
General $425

The humbuckers will add to the value, but I am not sure exactly how much. I would probably go with around $1500.

Best Wishes,
Lynne

S300AD

I have a Guild S300-AD "A" stands for
ash body and "D" stands for Dimarzio pickups.
It looks like the one pictured here. I bought
mine new in Seekonk, Ma which is about 45 minutes
away from Westerly, RI where it was built and
where I went to pick up the case. I had two
small cut switches installed a few years after
I bought it to give give single coil type sounds.
With those and the out of phase switch, I get all kinds of sounds. Great guitar!
