Gibson LG 2

by Fred Aufschlager
(Bernardsville, NJ 07924)

Gibson LG 2, original in all aspects. Has 19 frets, block script logo silkscreened with dot of "i" connected to "G", and "b" and "o" are open at top.Has fabric side supports, scalloped interior edge supports, X bracing of interior top, teardrop tortoise shell pick guard, mahogany sides, back and neck, no banner logo. FON 4428 is printed in black ink on head block followed by sequence number 28 in hand written red pencil. Based on these numbers and construction factors, I would place its production in 1949 or 1950. I purchased it from private owner in 1964, with a black, alligator cardboard case. The instrument has some pick scratches near the sound hole, some other very light scratches elsewhere and a 1/16 inch dent scratch in the bottom of the neck(revealing mahogany), and no cracks, bulges, bends, or fret wear. Thanks for your assistance.

I posted this guitar recently on your site as a J 45 by mistake. Please remove that posting as it is incorrect.
