Gibson Les Paul Standard 1977

Hello.
I have some questions about my vintage Gibson Les Paul standard. The serial number is: 73557510.
It is tobacco sunburst finish but inside the body, if i put out the pick up there are two letters: GOLD (goldtop?). Hmm is strange but the sunburst finish seems to be original. The other question is about strap buttons. The original strap buttons have been removed and installed schaller straplock belt holding system which demands two drilled holes in the guitar body. I asked some people about this drilled holes and they told me that is not the same thing like if the guitar would be drilled somewhere else. Do you think it really doesn't change the value of the guitar?
Best Regards, Alex
ANSWER
Hi, Alex--
The serial number indicates that your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA December 21st, 1977 Production Number: 10
The Blue Book values are:
1976-1981
Mint $2,750
Exc.+$2,250
Exc.$2,000
Avg.+ $1,850
Avg.$1,700
General $1,600
I am confused about the "two letters". You state that it says "GOLD"?? That is not two letters. Both finishes were available.
As far as the drilling--ANY alteration in the original construction of the guitar will decrease its value. By how much in this case, I have no way of knowing.
Hope this helps.
