Gibson Custom ES-335
I was curious to fine out what my guitar is valued at, I am not sure of the year but the serial # is A-97118. I bought it used about 6-7 years ago and the guy I bought it from said it was a special order Chet Atkins orange, they had to get permission from Chet Atkins when they made it because it was a color he was using on a different model with his name on it. It is in excellent condition but not mint. To me, this is the best looking guitar I have ever seen.
ANSWER
Hi, Russell--
Gibson serial numbers can be undependable. The serial number came up "unrecognized".
The guitar looks like a ES-335 ESDT--manufacured between 1982 and the present. The identifying characteristics are the dots on the neck and the tune-o-matic bridge.
The "Custom" model has no F holes.
Here are Blue Book prices for the most likely years:
1982-1997 Mint $2,500 Exc.+ $2,000 Exc. $1,650 Avg.+ $1,350 Avg. $1,100 General $950
It IS a very beautiful guitar!
Lynne
