Greetings, I have enjoyed your site very much over time.
I would like information on a model number for a Giannini. I have many Gianninis, but info on them is sketchy.
I know what the model number means. It is a steel 6 string with electrics. I do not know what the X A denotes.
Any information would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Ed.
ANSWER
Hi, Ed--
You are right--there IS very little information available about Giannini guitars.
Here is some general info from the Blue Book:
"Giannini currently produces a wide range of acoustic guitars including classicals and misc. acoustic/electrics. The Study Series (MSR $180-$380) represent beginner models and are available in a variety of configurations. The Brazil & Performance Series ($280-$950) are classicals and cutaways with and without electronics in several configurations. The Classical Series ($380-$580) are classical models. The Handcrafted Series ($900-$2,700) are the highest-end models Giannini produces, and they are constructed with all solid woods. Giannini also produces the unique Craviola in six models, seven-strings classicals in six models, Cavaquinhos, 10 Str Brazilian Violas, and Mandolins."
Information specific to Model CRA 6 E is not listed. There is this information about Model CRA 6 N, which is probably the same guitar except with nylon strings and no electronics:
CRA 6N CRAVIOLA
- nylon strings, spruce top, round soundhole, Brazilian rosewood back/sides, 19-fret rosewood fingerboard and bridge, three-per-side tuners, available in Natural finish, length 40 in., body width 15.25 in., body thickness 4 in., mfg. circa early 1970s.
Pricing:
Excellent $300 - 350
Average $150 - 200
