Yam-FG200
by: Ben

My FG200 was manufactured 2/73. I purchased it brand new w/ case in Orlando, FL for $150. Obviously, I would never part with it. The action was a little high and one string would always tune down a bit by itself. After owning it for a year, I had a friend (in the business) set the action for me and install a set of Shallers. To this day, I could let this guitar set for months and it would still be in tune when I pick it up. Over the past 35 years, I've owned Martins, Gibsons, Ovations, ect. ranging from $500-$3500. They always got sold or traded while I held on to my Yammer. The width and thickness of the neck is just about perfect for me. The action is exactly what I want in a guitar. Very good projection/rich full sound on this guitar. Everything I'm mentioning good about my Yammer is exactly what was missing from the more expensive guitars I've owned. Strings make a huge difference in this guitar. Over the years, I've experimented with many to find the feel and sound I like. My favorite through those years has been Ernie Ball Earthwood Light Bronze. I have a set of Elixer Acoustic lights on it now and really like them. As for trade or selling this guitar, there is no way. As a matter of fact, I'm going in a few minutes to look at another on advertised for $100. If it's decent, I'll buy it.

Value Yamaha FG-200
by: Old fart jammin

I have had my 200 for over 30 years received it in the orginal case for my birthday. I will put this guitar up against any mid to upper mid range acoustic. Never needs tuned, sounds great and is fantastic condition, since I'm the only one who has played it all these years.
I ran across some info on the web, the neck numbers are as such - the first digit is the style, the next four (mine is 0509)date of manufacture and the last four are unknown because Yamaha won't disclose this. (according to this source)

I don't know about anyone else I wouldn't take $500.00 for mine because it would take that and more to replace one that sounds and plays like this one.

Yamaha FG 200
by: John

I got my FG 200 today for $70.00 with the case, it looks and plays great and I feel I got a great deal, I wish I knew what year it was made, my serial number is 30619551, there is also another serial below this number, 0342617, it also looks to be a gold or a yellow lable, made in Taiwan, so any info on my guitar would be helpful, thank you
